The Cultural Center of the Philippines presents the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, Manila 2013 on August 7-10, 2013 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and to honor its founder National Artist for Music Andrea O. Veneracion, one of the pillars in the promotion and development of choral music in the country. The Festival will see the fruition of the first international choral competition in the history of the art of choral music in the country. The Cultural Center of the Philippines commissioned NILO ALCALA to write the official contest piece for the Chamber Choir Category. The composition is entitled "Three Kalingga Chants" based on the following indigenous tunes: Wiyawi, Salidumay, and Mambayu. WEBSITE, click here: Andrea O. The Philippine Madrigal Singers at the 2013 ACDA National Convention in Dallas Texas, performing Kaisa-Isa Niyan (Nilo Alcala).
